Natural reserves
At less than 10 km, instead, there are the state reserves of San Cataldo and the Cesine, both meticulously maintained and managed by the local section of the WWF.

Legambiente Onlus and the Italian Touring Club presented the “Blue Guide” which contains the best of the sea and lakes in Italy.

Puglia is third in the ranking after Sicily and Sardinia.
This year the “5 Sails” wave in the following districts:
– High Ionic Salento (Nardò, Gallipoli, Porto Cesareo, Racale);
– High Adriatic Salento (Melendugno, Otranto, Vernole);
– Parco degli Ulivi (Polignano a mare, Ostuni, Monopoli, Fasano, Carovigno).

In total, 12 districts are included in the guide and, in addition to the municipalities with the 5 sails, there are the 4 sails, which go to:
– Low Adriatic Salento (Castro, Andrano, Diso, Tricase and Santa Cesarea Terme);
– South Gargano (Mattinata, Vieste, Monte Sant’Angelo);
– Taranto Coast (Manduria, Maruggio, Pulsano);
– Tremiti Islands.

The 3 sails go to:
– Ionic Low Salento (Salve, Ugento);
– Capo di Leuca (Patù, Castrignano del Capo, Gagliano del Capo);
– North Gargano (Chieuti, Lesina, Peschici, Sannicandro Garganico, Ischitella, Rodi Garganico, Vico del Gargano);
